After a "game announcer" has announced the "spiritual play" of the "Invitation to Everyone," the prelude begins: God the Lord commissions Death to bring Everyone before the divine judgment seat so that he may account for his life. The main part shows Everyone as a self-righteous steward of his wealth, who denies pity and help to the impoverished neighbor and a debtor. Then his guests appear: "Buhlschaft," his beloved, surrounded by musicians and friends. A raucous feast begins, but Everyone becomes increasingly disturbed by mysterious calls until Death suddenly demands him to follow. Everyone requests a brief delay to find protective companions for this journey, but friends, relatives, and the previously devoted Good Comrade refuse. So Everyone has his treasure chest brought to him so that he need not forgo power and self-confidence on the last leg of his life. However, from the chest emerges "Mammon," declaring that money is not Everyone's tool, but rather Everyone is the servant of money. Stripped of all earthly goods, Everyone sets out on the way to God's judgment. The embodiment of his "Works" offers accompaniment, and when Everyone sincerely regrets his omissions and returns to faith, "Works" and "Faith" lead him to a purifying confession of guilt.
