Paths and detours, adventure and homecoming - incomparable masterpieces of the piano trio literature

In 2020, the TriOdyssée, consisting of three renowned chamber musicians, came together as spontaneously as the name suggests. They had already performed one of their concerts in Remagen with great success in the 2022/2023 season.

Pianist Rinko Hama has been praised in the press as ‘highly expressive and passionate’. Born in Japan's capital Tokyo, she studied piano in her home city as well as in Karlsruhe and Detmold and enjoys an excellent international reputation both as a soloist and chamber musician. She currently holds a professorship at the Detmold University of Music.

The two string players are also characterised by passion and temperament. French-born Romain Garioud has been in demand worldwide as a cellist since his prize-winning performances at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (2001) and the Concours Rostropovitsch in Paris (2002). He also teaches strings at the Remagen City Orchestra.

Laurent Albrecht Breuninger is of German-French descent, plays a violin by Nicolas Lupot and is currently a professor at the University of Music in Karlsruhe. He is a prizewinner of the world-famous ‘Concours Reine Elizabeth’ (1997).

The three exceptional musicians will bring two incomparable masterpieces to the foyer of the Rheinhalle: the famous Piano Trio in E minor op. 67 by Dmitri Shostakovitch and the Piano Trio in G minor op. 15 by Bedrich Smetana. Visitors can also look forward to the Sonata for Violin and Cello by Maurice Ravel.
