Oenological wine tasting: The cultural history of terroir
Peterspay 1, 56322 Spay
Topic: The wine aroma wheel - practical introduction to quantitative-descriptive sensory analysis
Winter time - wine tasting time. Our professional wine tastings in winter have already become a bit of a tradition. In December, I prepare a new oenological topic that deals directly with sensory analysis and tasting and about which many questions are asked throughout the year. After an introductory lecture with reference samples, there is a varied wine tasting on the topic. Various teaching materials are included in the price.
After a lecture on the flavours in wine, we get to know the wine aroma wheel and its history. This does not remain theoretical and abstract, as we familiarise ourselves with typical white wine aromas in a very practical way with the help of reference samples. We then taste representative wines and create flavour profiles of these wines together. We are no longer laymen in the method of quantitative-descriptive sensory analysis. Science, not to dissect the mystery of wine, but to increase the pleasure of tasting (and not to be led around by the nose by overly flowery wine descriptions).
