A concert by the Swiss ensemble as part of the Kultursommer tour

A fascinating instrument, beguilingly haunting in sound - sublime and natural in construction and appearance and extremely versatile. At least this is the case with the modern alphorn quartet ‘Hornroh’ from Switzerland. Jennifer Tauder and the three alphorn players present deep from the soul of this natural instrument - sometimes they play with the unusual fundamentals of the natural tone series and at other times they eliminate the intonational ‘false sounds’ through the skilful choice of different basic tunings of their up to 20 alphorns, Büchel, shell and natural horns. In terms of sound, this results in summer alpine panoramas, cow fights, avalanches, stately (Swiss) soundscapes and rhythmic collages.
