Herbstferienprogrammm auf der Sayner Hütte

In der Sayner Hütte 4, 56170 Bendorf-Sayn

For children of primary school age (6-10 years)

We are offering the autumn holiday programme for children of primary school age (6-10 years) from 13 - 16.10.2025.

Workshop overview

With our workshops, we reinterpret the history of Sayner Hütte in a completely new way! A modern approach to historical references enables our guests to creatively engage with the various focal points of the monument site. In our programmes on architecture, art, technology and teamwork, visitors can experience the historic site in a very personal way - combined with fun in the group and an open hands-on programme - and our workshops are designed for young and old so that people of all ages can take part. The accessibility of the grounds also invites people with disabilities to experience Sayner Hütte creatively in this new way. After a short guided tour of the grounds, our guests become active themselves and get to grips with the special features of Sayner Hütte - sometimes creatively, sometimes action-packed.

Jewellery workshop

Iron art casting in its most delicate form can be found in our museum in the form of pieces of jewellery that were cast from perpetual iron at Sayner Hütte in the 19th century. The fact that these small, delicate objects were equated with gold at the time is still surprising today and the production of these rarities is hard to comprehend: How wasIn the ‘jewellery workshop’, our guests have the opportunity to make their own favourite jewellery. With the help of different beads and wires, individual necklaces, bracelets, pendants or hair clips are created based on historical models. Of course, all the objects created can be taken home with you.

On a discovery tour through Sayn with hut boy Toni!

Can you imagine what a working day at Sayn Ironworks was like over 100 years ago? Together we'll follow in the footsteps of 12-year-old Toni, who lived with his family in Alt-Sayn and worked at the Sayn hut on the Kalkpoche. Luckily, Toni left us his rucksack with lots of important things inside and a letter. We use it to go on a discovery tour from the hut to Hein's Mühle. Card art - a greeting from the hut The extraordinary New Year's plaques in our museum show that greeting cards were not only made from cardboard, but also cast in iron. Produced in small numbers by Sayner Hütte, they were an extraordinary art object and an expression of the high esteem in which the recipient was held. Just like back then, we still rely on the surprise effect today when we dedicate ourselves to card art. We make our loved ones happy with our very own ‘greeting from the hut’ by creating surprising folding cards from paper. Special folding techniques are used to create greetings cards in envelopes that are guaranteed to amaze!

The meeting point for all workshops is the Sayner Hütte visitor centre
