Führungen Liebfrauenkirche zu Ostern
Kirchstr. 1, 55430 Oberwesel
The Liebfrauenkirche Oberwesel is the pearl of Gothic churches along the Middle Rhine. Coming from the south, it towers over the city of towers and wine. It is the pride of the community of Oberwesel. The importance of faith to people in the 13th century is demonstrated by the testimonies of faith: Liebfrauenkirche, St. Martinskirche, Mutter Rosa-Kapelle (Werner-Kapelle), and many other religious institutions were located within the city walls.
The red masonry of the Liebfrauenkirche is striking and fascinating. It houses a variety of treasures and artworks from the past that are unique in the Rhineland. The gold altar, the rood screen, the nave, and the 72-meter-high church tower characterize the Liebfrauenkirche, as does the Eberhard/Klais organ (1745) with more than 3,565 pipes and 54 registers.
The town of Oberwesel must have made a great impression on its visitors in the Middle Ages. It was surrounded on all sides by high walls and towers. The Liebfrauenkirche jutted out like a mighty bolt from the mountainside down to the Rhine.
What moved people in this century to build such a church? How did people live and pray along the Rhine? In the offered tours, we want to give you a small insight into the sacred architecture and art of the church and the testament of faith of Christians in earlier centuries.
Look forward to the tour. You are invited to explore the church. We look forward to your visit.
