My sculpture "Bird" is created freely from thinking and feeling, respect for the nature of the stone and the landscape. I have not "started from something", I have not "abstracted". Because art and nature are two completely different things. The work begins with me usually quite calmly, but is very soon leads into a general chaos of the Erpfindungen. Then follows the laborious phase to balance the whole again and to bring formally to rest, until everything looks very simple in the end. To exaggerate, one could also say: failure is actually the source of art. At my age, concepts such as talent, style, consistency, experience, abstraction, realism, etc. are long outdated.
