Zum Aubachtal 100, 56566 Neuwied-Oberbieber
One of the last measures to develop and enrich the Oberbieberer local recreation area was the creation of the Aubach reservoir above the equestrian centre at the confluence of the Engelsbach valley. It was opened to the public in July 1971. The normal water capacity of 20,000 cubic metres with a depth of up to 3.4 metres can be dammed up to 50,000 cubic metres with a depth of up to 4.7 metres. Not far from the restaurant at the entrance to the Engelsbach valley at the foot of the Köppel was once the Freunds- or Paulsmühle mill, which burnt down in 1893. At the upper end of the lake, near the forest house of the Oberbieberer music club ‘Eintracht’, at the foot of the Windelberg, there was a silver smelter in the 19th century.
