One World Linz e.V.
Rheinstraße 3, 53545 Linz am Rhein
The association Eine-Welt Linz e. V., founded in September 2012, is committed to more justice between peoples and the promotion of the sale of fair trade products. EINE-WELT Linz e. V. pursues exclusively charitable purposes on a non-partisan and non-denominational basis. Fair trade is based on the idea that every person involved in the creation of a product should receive a fair wage for their labour. In this way, the worldshops document that they are committed to a decent life, against price dumping, starvation wages and human rights violations. Good reasons to pay a little more for some worldshop products. Social commitment and the promotion of fair trade are at the centre of all voluntary activities of the members. Goals that the members work to realise on a voluntary basis: the promotion of understanding and justice between peoples the promotion of peace in the world and the preservation of creation. Concrete measures with which these goals are to be achieved: Information events and film evenings on fair trade for schoolchildren, young people, adults, senior citizens, schools, associations, groups, etc. Publications and explanations on the topics of life, business and justice in the One World Support for development projects in the One World Sales bazaars with fair trade products To the delight of the Executive Board, the number of members has steadily increased since the organisation was founded to 80. Since the organisation was founded, the membership fee has been €20 per year for individuals and €50 for legal entities. One of the goals of this socially committed association is to reach 100 members by the time it celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2022. In 2016, the board of the Eine-Welt Linz e.V. association was in the fortunate position of being able to recruit and employ the educationalist Karl Hermann Amthauer as an education officer specialising in fair trade. Since then, Amthauer has been working with noticeably increasing acceptance to inspire young people and adults to buy fairly traded products. The board of the association Eine-Welt Linz e.V. is convinced that the commitment of the education officer Karl Hermann Amthauer in schools, clubs, community cafés, companies etc. will have a medium to long-term effect on increasing public awareness of justice in this world and especially in the Global South, but also in the North. Last but not least, the Executive Board hopes that the population will become more aware of the need to buy fairly traded products in light of the fact that the city of Linz was awarded the title of ‘Fairtrade City’ by TransFair e.V. Cologne (Fairtrade Germany) on 7 April 2019, becoming the 595th city in Germany and the 34th city in Rhineland-Palatinate. Through its commitment to local fair trade, the city of Linz is sending a concrete signal in favour of a fairer world and making an important contribution to improving the living conditions of disadvantaged producer groups in the Global South. A shopping guide published by the Linz Fair Trade Steering Group in 2019 and 2020 informs the population about the retail shops and catering establishments that sell fairly traded products. The shopping guide also provides information about the many supporters of fair trade. The shopping guide is available wherever fair trade products are available.
