MONREPOS Archäolog. Forschungszentrum u. Museum für menschl. Verhaltensevolution
Schloss Monrepos, 56567 Neuwied
The archaeological research centre and museum for human behavioural evolution is researching why we behave the way we do. And presents the results in the exhibition at Schloss Monrepos.
The exciting permanent exhibition "UNDERSTANDING HUMANITY" at Monrepos Castle, the so-called "castle of researchers".
Monrepos (French for "my rest"), the former princely summer residence on the heights above the town of Neuwied, is surrounded by extensive forests on the edge of the Westerwald and is now a local recreation area. Long-distance hiking trails such as the Rheinsteig, the Limeswanderweg and the Rheinhöhenweg intersect here.
The museum and archaeological research centre have been housed in the former "princess castle" for many years. Here, recognised archaeologists from all over the world research the development of human behaviour. Their findings are presented in an interesting and exciting interactive permanent exhibition. It is an experience for the whole family.
The "Mon Apetit" bistro and the museum shop invite you to linger and, together with the beautiful view, make for an unrivalled experience. The exhibition is located on the ground floor of the castle and is barrier-free.
