The neo-classical fountain with a neo-gothic cast-iron trough dates back to the middle of the 19th century and was made in the Rheinböllerhütte.
The Rheinböller ironworks was one of the largest and oldest ironworks in the Hunsrück region owned by the industrialist family Kirsch-Puricelli. In the 19th century, the family extended the Reichenstein Castle in Trechtingshausen as their representative residence. The running fountain is located opposite Stahleckstraße 15. The iron fountains in Oberwesel, Niederburg, St. Goar, St. Goar-Biebernheim and Wiebelsheim also originate from the Rheinböllerhütte.
