The red lion adorned the coat of arms of the Counts of Katzenelnbogen. From the Schützenkopf, the view sweeps far and wide over the heights on both sides of the Rhine. The land, which touches the eye, was once the center of the dominion of the powerful Counts of Katzenelnbogen.
