Herz Jesu Church
Löhrrondell 1A, 56068 Koblenz
The Roman Catholic church, consecrated on 19 May 1904, was built as a monumental building in neo-Romanesque style with Gothic elements on the foundations of the Löhr Gate in order to be able to offer religious pastoral care to the rapidly growing city population.
The main façade with double towers was designed by architect Ludwig Becker to face Löhrstraße and the old town, the choir to the south. The basilica is crowned by a crossing tower and two choir towers. After its destruction in the Second World War, it was rebuilt in a slightly simplified form from 1950 to 1953. In 2011, the interior was extensively renovated. Today it belongs to the parish community of Koblenz-Innenstadt Dreifaltigkeit in the Koblenz deanery of the diocese of Trier.
