The iron ore roasting furnaces of the ore mine Werner built in 1724 on the Vierwinden in Bendorf (below the Berghotel Rheinblick). The ironstone of the pit was heated ("roasted") in the roasting ovens so that arsenic and sulfur escaped and "deaf" rock could be separated. The two roasting ovens, which have been listed since 1984, are the last of 5 pairs of roasting ovens. The square kilns were built from quarry stone masonry between 1879 and 1887, when the pit was owned by Alfred Krupp. The restoration took place from 1986 to 1996.
