Art Nouveau Mausoleum
Koblenzer Straße 39, 53498 Bad Breisig
In 1911/12, the Cologne hat manufacturer Albert Mertés built the mausoleum on the old cemetery of Breisig (1805 - 1966) in memory of his prematurely deceased daughter Mimi Mertés. The mausoleum features a slate roof with a glass dome. The cladding of the lower wall surfaces and the floor are made of marble. The four sarcophagi are hewn from tuff stone. Albert Mertés passed away in Berlin in 1924. The final resting place in the mausoleum includes his daughter Mimi, Albert Mertés himself, his son Albert-Peter, and his grandson Walter.
