Abtei Rommersdorf
Stiftsstraße 2, 56566 Neuwied
The former Premonstratensian Abbey of Rommersdorf (initially founded as a Benedictine monastery in 1117, taken over by Premonstratensians in 1135) is the oldest branch of this order in the territory of the old archdiocese of Trier.
Monastery of the Premonstratensian Order founded in the 12th century. The church, cloister and other buildings offer an insight into different stylistic periods. Beautiful gardens, such as the herb garden in the cloister, the English garden next to the abbey and the French garden in front of the orangery. In May cloister concerts are held here and in June/July the Rommersdorf Festspiele take place.
